Coastal Senior College Committees

CSC is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, which is the policy-making and governing arm of CSC. The Finance and Nominating Committees are two board committees whose members come from the CSC Board of Directors.

However, much of the day to day work of CSC is accomplished by committees whose members are committed CSC volunteers. Read a short description of the work done by each of these committees:

  • Curriculum Committee
    • Recruits instructors and approves courses; finds course venues and maintain current site descriptions;  schedules instructors, number of sessions, day, time, and venue for each class; prepares the course catalog; coordinates with Marketing and Media Outreach to assure that classes are advertised; reviews course evaluations and makes or recommends improvements; and, recruits, trains, and supports course assistants.

    •

  • Activities Committee
    • Plans, organizes, and produces special events for members (such as trips, lectures, walks, social events) that will enrich CSC member experience and offers the local community one-time educational events.

  • Marketing and Publicity Committee

Creates and implements a marketing strategy; creates and distributes course catalogs and newsletters publicizing courses and events.

  • Tech Committee -

Administers the CSC software package that supports Coastal Senior College’s website, membership management, online registration and financial functions.

  • Media Outreach Committee -

Produces informational pieces for local media to promote CSC courses and activities. Establishes working relationships with the local newspapers, radio, and television stations.

  • Membership Committee -

Works to maintain and expand the membership of CSC through the goals of recruitment, retention and recognition.
